Skin Care for Men in Summer

Skin Care Routine in Summer for Men

Gone are the days when you would simply use a common bar of soap for your entire body, including your face! Gone are the days when skincare and face care products were limited to the female target audience. Today, you get skincare products that are specifically designed for men. And that’s great!

Summer’s here and this is how you can keep your skin healthy this season and beyond.

Protect Your Skin From Direct Sunlight

The first step in keeping your skin healthy is not to underestimate the importance of sun protection. It is important to protect your skin with a cap, long sleeved clothes, and sunscreen lotion. This helps reduce the tanning and blotches caused due to sun exposure. Your skin will also be less susceptible to damage from UV rays when you use a good sunscreen product.

Drink Lots of Water

Another key way to keep your skin healthy in the summer is to drink lots of water. Dehydration can cause dryness, which leads to itchy and flaky skin, leading to wrinkles. Drinking plenty of water will help prevent this and keep your body hydrated so that you don’t feel tired or cranky during the warmer weather.

Look for a Face Wash with Activated Charcoal

Oily skin and dirt cause acne during summers. Using a quality activated charcoal face wash or face wash with natural ground coffee bean extract can help you deal with oily skin and other skin problems. Wash your face thoroughly whenever you come back home from outside. If you have a stubble or beard, you must follow a good beard care routine and ensure good hygiene to avoid itching and irritation.

Use a Natural Moisturiser

Use a moisturiser that is specifically made for men. Let this product do what it does best; keeping your face moisturised, hydrated, and healthy-looking all summer long. Finally, exfoliate regularly with a scrub every few days. You will see and feel the result - smoother, healthier skin - as soon as you have finished this step in your routine.

Avoid Exposure to Direct Sunlight

If you are spending a lot of time outdoors during the hottest months of the year, it is important not to expose your skin to the heat and sun. Sun exposure can cause sunburn and elevate the risk of skin cancer. You should also avoid getting dehydrated or sweating too much. Sweating in excess can irritate your skin and cause breakouts, rashes, and itching.

Wear Sunblock

Wearing sunscreen every day is important for all seasons but especially during summer because the sun is stronger and harsher, making your skin more prone to damage.

Nutrients That Help in Summer

Certain nutrients can help protect your skin from the damaging effects of the summer sun. These include vitamin A, vitamin C, zinc, and selenium. Vitamin E is great for healing damaged skin and protecting it from further damage. It’s important to make sure that you are getting enough of these nutrients in your diet during the hotter months so that your body can take care of itself. Eat a diet rich in fruits and leafy vegetables. Eating these foods will help provide nutrients needed for optimal skin health and make it more resistant against ageing factors like pollution, stressors, and excessive sunlight exposure.

Follow a daily skincare routine

When it comes to skincare for men, you can simply follow an easy routine twice a day:

Morning:

Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt or oil. Apply an oil-free moisturiser and sunscreen to protect the skin from sun damage and dryness. Apply a mild toner to clean up the skin (optional).

Night:

Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt or oil that might have accumulated during the day. You can use an anti-aging serum or facial lotion before bed to help treat ageing skin and prevent wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven tone. Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen before going out in the sun to protect against UV damage that could cause premature ageing.
